The Level 1 Award in Health & Safety in a Construction Environment is a nationally recognised qualification designed for individuals who are looking to begin a career in the UK construction industry. This course is one of the key requirements for applying for the CSCS Green Labourer Card, allowing learners to access construction sites across the UK.

Delivered by experienced trainers, this one-day classroom course provides a thorough understanding of health and safety legislation, workplace hazards, and safe working practices. It equips learners with the essential knowledge required to work safely and confidently in a construction environment.

Course Overview:

Duration: 1 Day Cost: £350 (Includes Training, GQA Health, Safety & Environment Test and CSCS Green Card Application).
Frequency: Courses run weekly.

Required Documents:

Proof of Identification: Passport or driver’s licence is required for verification.
Proofs of Address: Two documents such as HMRC letters, tax bills, utility bills, or bank statements must be provided.
Photographs: One recent passport-size photographs are necessary for your application.

Entry Requirements:

Be at least 16 years of age.
Have a basic understanding of spoken and written English.
Provide valid photographic identification.
Attend the full day of classroom training.

Course Content:

Unit 1: Health & Safety Principles in Construction
Unit 2: Safe Manual Handling
Unit 3: Working Safely at Height
Unit 4: Occupational Health Risks
Unit 5: Construction Plant, Equipment & Site Safety

Assessment:
Learners are assessed through a series of five multiple-choice examinations, with each assessment covering one of the five learning units delivered throughout the course. The assessments are designed to measure the learner’s understanding of construction health and safety principles and their ability to apply safe working practices within the construction environment.

All assessments are completed under supervised examination conditions in accordance with GQA assessment requirements. Learners must complete each section within the allocated time and achieve the required pass standard to successfully complete the qualification.

Where permitted by GQA assessment regulations, learners who narrowly miss the required pass mark may be eligible for a resit in the relevant section.

Successful candidates will be awarded the GQA Level 1 Award in Health & Safety in a Construction Environment, a nationally recognised qualification that supports progression towards obtaining a CSCS Green Labourer Card.

I have completed my Door Supervisor Top up and First Aid course from 2 to 3 March 2024. I am happy to say that the training was excellent and the staff members and the Trainer was really helpful. Course Time was 9:30 to 6:30 both days. I was there and the Trainer was on time even before 9:30 - the Trainer himself open the building on the first day for us, which was really nice to see.
